Hi, Im buying a GG 06 Evo9MR with 49000miles. Itll be the first 4g63 I have so was wondering if you girls had any suggestions for future mods. Its gonna be a daily driver so nothing outragious yet. Also, its still at the dealership getting ready for me so there is not a price on it yet. What would yall expect to spend on this car?

With miles around that I would say you could probably get them in the 20k-22k range. Depending on if it has any extras it should be in that range.
Depending on if you want cosmetic mods vs performance mods and price theres quite a few options out there. The first thing I personally get(if it doesn't have one) is a turbo timer. I have a different motor so I can't really say on too many performance mod specifics. Cosmetics theres lots of carbon fiber parts out there.... but that car looks so damn good just stock its hard to make it any better!

Hi, and welcome. Congrats on your upcoming purchase!

First, I would definitely check to be sure that it doesnt have existing mods on there already. Based on my experience, alot of the time...dealers might not even know. Its hard to comeby a evo 8/9 that doesnt have mods already. Its possible for a evo 9 to come stock though, since its more recent.

I would definitely get the basic bolt ons - drop-in filter, turbo back exhaust, downpipe or test pipe or highflow cat(depending on where you live and your emission regulations), manual boost controller, fuel pump and a tune. You will definitely notice a difference once you have those basic things. You should get use to how your car runs with these additional mods then move on to upgrading more. Also, suspension (coilovers or springs) is great as well for a first mod.

You can also add all the other possible boltons like upgrading your front mount intercooler, changing all your piping (upper and lower), mini battery, cams and headstuds. Cams make a big difference in power for the 8/9s. If all else fails and you crave more power, get a new turbo kit. Definitely do your reserach first before chosing the right one. A lot of people have different goals for their cars wether it be a time attack car, track car or show car and how you mod your car for whichever goal you want makes a difference.

:)

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum RalliArtG3rl! what's your name?

Not bad for those kinda miles, Make sure you carefully look at the car before you purchase it? Test drive it also if you want to make sure the previous owner didnt do any harm to it. Sometimes, previous owners would want to get rid of it to get the evox but better to be cautious.

If you dont want anything too crazy, you can see what bbyevochick had mentioned on her post. But remember, it's always better to get a dyno tune. You'll benefit more with any future mods you will have.

Yes welcome, like many of the ladies already mentioned, definitely make sure you test drive the car first. Most of the time Evo's are fun cars to drive and people will beat the crap out of them and trade them in for something else. So good luck on that! :)

As far as mods, I noticed that you mentioned that you are planning on having this car a DD. From experience of having another car modded and also having it as DD, it wasn't the best idea on going all out. I did the whole lip kit, drop, rims, etc. etc. and honestly it only caused tons of problems. Hence, why i am selling it now and use my Evo X as my DD. Although, i do plan on modding my Evo, im planning on taking it slow and doing it the right way by taking my time and not try to rush the modding thing. So far, ive only done exhaust, mud flaps, intake, and switched out all the interior lights to LED's. So in all honesty, just do mods that you know will help you in the long run.

I have to agree with pixie on this. Back in the day when I use to have my 240sx as a DD I had a ton of cosmetics like a body kit, rims, etc and it was a hassle. I learned my lesson and decided to keep my evo mods basic and simple...atleast for now lol.

Keep in mind the more mods you get, the more problems you may have. Its possible for you to easily get boost leaks or maybe driveability issues of a tune due to the changes in weather. (your car will react differently to cold and hot weather conditions so you will need to keep updating your tune)

Evolutionm.net is a GREAT resource with TONS of information about evos if you want to learn more about your car in depth.

Thanks ladies, your replys are very helpful. I dont plan on any cosmetic mods, the car is just too damn sexy stock. Dont get me wrong, There are evos out there with cosmetic upgrades that look beautiful. My priority is performance but im taking it slow since it will be my DD for now, exhaust, drop in filter, ic pipes, change all fluids to royal purple, tune. Turbo timer is def a good investment, if it dont have one it have to get one. Ive seem too many turbos go to waste because people dont have turbo timer.

I was at the local Mitsu dealership getting rid of the ralliart and was considering a EvoX and then some one came in with a Evo9. So i mmediatly told the sales rep i want it and to call me before it goes on the lot. Anyways getting to my point, i was easedropping to the conversation between the Evo9 owner and the Sales Manager. Previous owner said he took all the mods of except brake lines because he was lazy, it had been in a light fenderbender in witch the left front quartpanel and headlight had to replaced. He said he rarely drove it, garage kept, and he is the 2nd owner.
I asked when it was gonna be ready for me and they said that the mechanics have to take a realy good look at it because it is an evo so itll be about a week. The mechanics there actually know what they are dealing with, so im confident they will find every fault. But to be on the safe side Im taking it to my class to get a better look (im going to school to be a Auto Tech).

The only cosmetic thing i could see that was already done to the car is a Spoiler on the roof above the hedgehog looking spike thingys. IMO it didnt look bad or ricey but im thinking im gonna take it of anyways, dont know. Ill try to find a pic of one to give yall a better idea.
